The Nurses who saved the NHS tote bag

The Nurses who saved the NHS tote bag

This product aims to give credit to those nurses who are part of the Windrush generation and helped save the NHS when it was first launched. They suffered inequality at that time, and today BAME nurses still do not receive equal opportunities and treatment as their white colleagues. This product is especially relevant now as during the recent COVID-19 pandemic BAME nurses have been found to have significantly less PPE than white nurses, and death rates for BAME staff are considerably higher than their white counterparts. The profits from this tote are going to the Sickle Cell Society, which is currently raising awareness about the importance of the black community giving blood, to help with the sufferers of Sickle Cell Disease, who are predominantly from African and Caribbean backgrounds. The project is called 'South London Gives'.
